Spring Training is Here!
Tampa, FL - The weather is getting warmer, the smell of fresh cut grass is in the air and the sound of mitts popping is everywhere = the wonder signs of Spring Training starting. "The Inaugural draft took some time and lots of planning but in the end I think we built a team that can compete now, that our fans can get behind and support and that will be fun to watch," said owner/GM Travis Hays. The prize of the Hitmen's draft is by far left hander SP Scott "Mesquite" Hill. In the first game ever played by the Hitmen the 25-year old only allowed 1 hit in 4 shutout innings while striking out 4 and walking 4 in a 1-0 victory over division rivals Orlando Calrissian. The Bullpen was even more impressive pitching 5 shutout innings and only allowing 1 hit while striking out 7. Tommy "Flash" Smith struck out 4 of the 7 batters he faced in 2 innings of work.
The Hitmen went 2-2 in their first 4 games and look to better that in the upcoming games. The lineups have been shuffled and lots of middle infielders will get a chance to win starting jobs.
