Spring Training Games Recap

Tampa, FL - The Hitmen enter their 4-game sim sitting at 3-5. So far in 8 games the teams play has been sporadic at best. The offense sputters for about 3 games then explodes 5+ runs while the bullpen is getting plenty of innings so far with the starters only going 4 innings. For the most part the bullpen has done a very good job. It's still early so a lot of baseball is still left o be played.

Game 9: (3-5) Hendersonville - 3 @ Jacksonville - 6
The Hitmen faced division foe jacksonville and came away with another tough loss. SP Carlos Arevalo fell to 0-2 after walking 5 guys in 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 3 hits. The bullpen had another good game allowing 1 run in 4 innings. 1B Tommy Green went 1 for 1 with a RBI double and 2 walks. He's batting .400 thur games so far.

Game 10: (3-6) Hendersonville - 4 @ San Francisco - 0
Hitmen power past SF on 3 solo HRs and shutout pitching by the staff. 1B Green, 2B Davis and LF Garcia all hit their 2nd HR of the spring while SP Enrique Reyes bounced back from giving up 7 runs in first start to pitch 4 shutout innings only allowing 1 hit. MR's Whitehead, "Flash" and "Tsunami" combined for 5 shutout innnings allowing 1 hit and no walks.
2B Russell Davis was player of the game going 3-4 with his 2nd HR of the spring

Game 11: (4-6) Hendersonville - 7 @ Edison - 2
Phenom SP Scott Hill made his 3rd start of the spring and collected his 2nd win. Hill allowed 4 hits and struck out 4 in 4 shutout innings. LF Jose Garcia drove a 2-0, 2 out pitch 413 ft for the first Grand Slam in Hitmen history. It was Garcia's 2nd straight day with a HR and 3rd of the spring.

Game 12: (5-6) Hendersonville - 7 @ Alaska - 3
RF Zane Hammond told teammate Jose Garcia, "I see your Grand Slam and match it with my own". Hammond ripped a 1-2, 2-out pitch down the the RF line for the Hitmen's 2nd Slam in as many days. 2B Russell Davis continue his hot hitting, going 3 for 3 and upping his avg. to .417.
